  • Do I need to be a member to hire a court?
    No, anyone can hire at court at Hensman. Simply click the link and follow the prompts to hire a court Clubspark / Hensman Park Tennis Club / Home Courts hire fees are $10 per half hour (plus $2.50 per 30 mins light fees after dark).
  • Do I need my own racquet and balls?
    It is recommended that you bring your own equipment but we do have some racquets available to borrow. Just contact us once you have made your booking and we can help.
  • What do I need to wear?
    Appropriate tennis clothing and footwear is required to play at Hensman. Please make sure sport shoes are non-marking. Please note that you will be asked to cease play without adequate footwear.
  • What happens to my court hire if it rains?
    If the weather prevents you from playing or you are rained off during a session, just send us an email and we will refund the cost of your booking. managerhptc@gmail.com
  • What kind of programs do you offer?
    At Hensman, we offer: • Beginners Social Tennis • Intermediate and Advanced Social Twilight Tennis • Daytime Social Play - Women's, Men's and Mixed sessions • Cardio Tennis • Pickleball Social Sessions Please check our website for program timetables as times change throughout the year. Members and non-members are welcome at all sessions.
  • What does membership include?

  • How do I find the best tennis program for me?
    When you apply for membership, our Club Manager will give you a call to discuss your options. Whether you are brand new to the sport and looking for some instruction, to a seasoned pro looking for some competitive action, we can help direct you to the right session.
  • What kind of lessons do you offer?
    We have private and group lessons for all ages and levels. Private lessons are individually tailored to provide specific instruction and technique enhancement, and are simply the fastest way to improve your technique. Adult group sessions are a fun way to improve your tennis in a fun and social environment. Junior group lessons are run as part of the ANZ Hot Shots Program and classes are structured around the child's age. Equipment is modified for the younger players and all sessions focus on building not only technical tennis skills, but also social confidence and fun.
  • How much are lessons?
    Private lessons start from $55 per session. Group lessons start from $20 per session.
  • When can my child start tennis lessons?
    We teach children from 3 years of age where sessions are aimed at developing motor skills, coordination, tennis fundamentals and teamwork.
  • Do I have to begin at the start of term or can I join in anytime?
    You can sign up at any time throughout the year, subject to class availability. We have plenty of options for casual as well as term-based lessons.
  • Do you have high-performance options for Juniors too?

  • Do you have Holiday Clinics for kids?
    We have full and half day options on a day - to - day basis for kids to enjoy their holidays playing tennis, being active and having fun! No experience is required to participate and kids are placed into groups according to age and playing standard when they begin. Our clinics cater to kids from 3 - 17 year olds.
  • What is Cardio Tennis?
    Cardio Tennis is a workout program that brings together a range of tennis skills and drills with a variety of cardio workouts, all done to a high energy soundtrack. All fitness levels and tennis experience are welcome, even if you've never played before.
  • What exactly is League (FKA Pennants)?
    Tennis League is the inter-club competition run by Tennis West and includes clubs throughout the metropolitan area. Teams are placed into divisions and play weekly home - and - away fixtures throughout the Summer or Winter seasons. Hensman Park has one of the highest rates of participation in League with over 40 teams playing in Summer 2024-2025, and we have teams in all categories and divisions, playing throughout the week and on weekends.   • I've never played competitive tennis before, but I would like to. Where do I start?
    We have plenty of first-timers playing League for Hensman. Most competitions have many divisions so you don't have to be Ash Barty to get started. Come along to a Twilight Tennis session and chat to the facilitator or get in touch with the club and we can point you in the right direction! managerhptc@gmail.com
  • What is Pickleball?
    Pickleball is a racquet sport developed in the 1960s that has been growing in popularity recently across the globe. It combines aspects of tennis, badminton, ping pong and squash to provide a fun workout for all, whether you are looking for some high intensity racquet play, or a gentler game with less running and lower impact than traditional tennis. Using a lightweight paddle and plastic wiffle-ball, the game is played on a court about a third the size of a normal tennis court. It is easy to learn and play, making it great for younger players, beginners and tennis players returning from injury.
  • I'm an absolute beginner, will I be OK?
    Absolutely! We have a coach at every session to help you along and although there are some pretty wacky rules (stay out of the kitchen!), you will pick up the game quickly and become an expert in no time!
  • Do I need to bring friends to play or can I come alone?
    Both! If you have a group that wants to play together we can accommodate you. If you would like to come down and meet some new friends, we have a great group of regulars who will welcome you to the club.
  • Do I need to provide my own racquet?
    No, we provide all the equipment for you, just bring along a water bottle.
